Smelly Goodness
Got my Body Perfumery order. I am delighted! The Milk Bread body powder and Ginger Cream dry oil spray are awesome, the sniffs I've taken of the Golden Ginger Syrup deodorant, Xocoatl shampoo, and Tiramisu conditioner smell nummy in their bottles, and the samples of Orange Chiffon Cake, Vanilla Cake, Cinnabuns, Wood Coffee and Esmeralda's Delight were all lovely. If the shampoo and conditioner work well, that may be where I get mine from now on... ditto on the deodorant and powder, too. I might have to try some of their other stuff, too, they seem to do good foody stuff.

BPAL-wise, I placed the BPTP part of my ZOMGTHEUPDATETHATWILLKILLME order, and made my first foray into Inquisitioning. I begged for a Treat, since all the Treat scents are right up my alley, and wrote a

TREAT TRIOLET

I try more than ever to be good!
Nothing but frustration all around.
Did I slip someone a nickel of wood?
I try more than ever to be good!
This year has not gone as it should.
Did I let something precious slip to the ground?
I try more than ever to be good!
Nothing but frustration all around. to plead my case.

I just had to pull a chunk of glass out of my foot. Not cool.

Holy goodness, those scents sound delicious! I all of a sudden want to visit a bakery ;)

They are delicious! Right now I smell like someone's secret recipe for gingersnaps.

Oooooh!!!

That just sounds dangerous to me. I think I'd be too tempted to actually *eat* the soaps. I do get sugar cravings in the mornings and I don't think it'd do well to be chewing my hair in the office.

The Body Perfumery shampoo and conditioner scents don't seem to cling to the hair the way the Woobie ones do, alas. Thus I will be getting Xocoatl in dry oil spray soon.

Me too! I just ordered the small size dry oil spray, one in Xocoatl and one in Persian Love Cake.

Thanks for posting the Body Perfumery link - I'm such a product whore, especially for food scents! This is one of my favorites:
http://www.demeterfragrance.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=838

It smells so real, but also in a nice-on-the-body sort of way too, if that makes sense.

Have you tried Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab yet? It is gorgeousness and gorgeousity.

I have a thing of Demeter's apple scent (forget the name) lying around somewhere. They make nice stuff.

Omg - they have a great site - thanks! And fragrances in tribute to Neil Gaiman characters...what can I even say about that?? : )

I order these kinds of things online all the time, but I have issues sometimes when I've never smelled them before (ordering scents without sampling is harder than ordering clothes from a catalogue!). So I usually end up trial-and-erroring with the company for a while, until I'm on a first-name basis with their customer service operator from my returns/exchanges. I noticed they list two stores that carry their products. Do you know if there are any others?

Actually this is a great time to start trying BPAL; the new Halloween update just went up and people are having sales (BPAL has a thriving secondary market) like crazy to raise funds to get the new goodies. So it's a perfect time to go to [info]sinandsalvation and pick up a few imps (the sample-sized vials)! A good tactic is to make yourself a wishlist, look for stuff from your wishlist, but try a few other things too, you never know what might surprise you.

Let's see, you like foody, some recs off the top of my head... Bliss, Velvet, Vice, Centzon Totochin, Delirium, White Rabbit, Bon Vivant, Gluttony, Grog, Cockaigne, Eat Me, Drink Me... that's just off the top of my head. And that's just general catalogue scents, no limited editions.

Awesome. I was just looking at their Halloween page. So, so cool. I'll definitely check out the comm. : )

Ooooh, can't believe I forgot to mention Shub-Niggurath, my ginger love...
mcfly85[info]mcfly85 on August 29th, 2007 03:26 pm (UTC)
I SO love ginger, too. I'll wear pretty much any food-scent. Demeter has a 'gingerbread' that's nicely dark, and I like Origins ginger too - it smells like ginger ale to me.

If you can find it, get a decant of the original Shub (it was released as a limited edition blend, and later added to the main catalogue; the original isn't THAT different but will be aged and smell richer and "rounder"). It's often referred to as "evil gingerbread". Saw-Scaled Viper might suit you as well.

Off to look.... : )
